A brand-new co-op hide-and-seek game called Hollow Hide has appeared on Steam, and it looks strikingly similar to Meccha Chameleon, the latest viral friendslop title on the platform. What makes this potential copycat case unusual is that Meccha Chameleon has only been available for just over a month, making it one of the fastest examples of a similar game appearing on Steam.
In fact, SteamDB data suggests that some of the earliest activity recorded for Hollow Hide dates back to June 26, roughly 17 days after Meccha Chameleon's successful release. Even more surprising is that the new co-op game is scheduled to launch as early as August 20, 2026, raising questions about its development process.
