PlayStation Network servers are currently down, locking millions of users out of digital content and online services across the platform. The PlayStation Network outage may have been related to the Amazon Web Services outage in the early hours of July 24. However, Amazon has confirmed that all AWS connectivity issues have been resolved, yet the PSN has still been down for over four hours.
Like most web services, the PSN has a tendency to experience outages from time to time. However, this outage comes at a time when digital games on PlayStation are a hot-button issue among fans after Sony announced it would end production of physical discs for PlayStation games starting in 2028. Combined with the lack of a clear culprit behind this outage after AWS has come back online, and PlayStation players are worried that this trend may become a worsening problem in the future.
