A new World of Warcraft and Dungeons & Dragons crossover appears to have leaked ahead of Gen Con 2026 after Roll20 briefly published promotional material for an unannounced product. World of Warcraft remains one of the most influential MMORPGs ever made, with a fantasy setting that already shares many qualities with traditional tabletop role-playing games.
Blizzard's World of Warcraft has already had a long history with tabletop role-playing games, dating back to Warcraft: The Roleplaying Game in 2003, using D&D's third-edition framework. After that, World of Warcraft: The Roleplaying Game launched in 2005 using the 3.5 ruleset, adapting Azeroth's races, classes, monsters, factions, and magic systems to the TTRPG format. Neither game was officially published by Wizards of the Coast, however. Both also predate D&D's current version of Fifth Edition and lack much of the lore Blizzard has added to WoW over the past two decades. A new leak suggests a contemporary version of a World of Warcraft TTRPG is coming after 20 years, as Dungeons & Dragons collabs help it expand beyond its traditional settings.
