New Silent Hill Game’s Setting Is Already Dividing Fans

Silent Hill has done what previously seemed impossible, battling tooth and nail to restore its reputation after a handful of games in the franchise were lackluster and the series went on ice, only to return in 2023 with the egregious Silent Hill: Ascension. However, Bloober’s Silent Hill 2 remake was a godsend a year later, followed shortly by Silent Hill f, which was an enormous breath of fresh air for Silent Hill in many ways.

But Silent Hill’s hot streak is likely to continue with Silent Hill: Townfall, releasing this fall in a September that’s stuffed to the gills. This will mark the third excellent Silent Hill game in three consecutive years, though fans seem to still be unsure how they feel about Silent Hill: Townfall’s setting taking the franchise further away from the titular tourist town in Maine.

On Reddit, fans are conflicted about whether they appreciate Silent Hill: Townfall following in Silent Hill f’s footsteps and taking place somewhere other than Silent Hill. Indeed, Silent Hill: Townfall takes place in the fictional island town of St. Ameliaon the North Coast of Scotland and, like Silent Hill f,appears to have no ties to Silent Hill.
