Fable Just Got a 1-2 Punch of Very Bad News

Without a doubt, Fable is one of the most anticipated games coming soon under the Xbox umbrella, but a recent report shines light on two otherwise potential dark spots for the game. Ultimately how it is received remains to be seen when Fable releases in February 2027, but Playground Games and Xbox arguably need to reassert a narrative for the game. After all, fans know it's been delayed a couple of times, and that in and of itself is a question of confidence for some consumers.

Still, Fable does seem to be getting everything right. Xbox and Playground Games have only teased key parts so far, but everything revealed about Fable's gameplay and story makes it sound right on track for the franchise. And yet, its budget is apparently a point of concern, as well as its release plans.

Playground Games confirms that Fable has a staggering 1000 handcrafted NPCs in the game, and the main character can romance any of them.

First, a new report from Windows Central's Jez Corden suggests that Fable is "uncomfortably" over budget. It's worth noting that pretty much every video game in development right now, unless it just started, is over budget. Development costs...
