There's very little debate that Metal Gear Solid is one of the most consistent series in video game history, with every mainline entry receiving universal acclaim from both critics and fans. Whichever one your favorite happens to be, they have already secured their legacies as some of the all-time great releases.
That said, series creator Hideo Kojima permanently left Konami in 2015 after finishing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and the series has been in limbo ever since. The chances of it coming back at some point aren't zero, but there are plenty of fans out there questioning whether it even needs to return at all.
Over on Reddit, one user shared a post asking for the general consensus on whether we need a Metal Gear Solid 6, saying they really didn't see why anyone would want it. It's an interesting point, and there was a wide variety of opinions from the community about the best course of action.
