Developer The Indie Stone has finally released the long-awaited Build 42 update for Project Zomboid. This major Project Zomboid update has overhauled key areas of the map, implemented deeper crafting and building systems, revamped challenge mode, expanded the game's lore, and a whole lot more.
Technically still in Early Access, Project Zomboid launched on Steam in November 2013. Naturally, the zombie survival game has come an incredibly long way since launch. In the 13 years following Project Zomboid's initial release, a total of 42 major updates have come to the game, each one adding at least one major new gameplay system to the experience, such as foraging and vehicles. While Project Zomboid used to receive multiple updates a year, the developer has altered its strategy, and is now focusing on delivering much larger updates less frequently. It took three years for Project Zomboid to receive its Build 41 patch, and now, after five years of waiting, it's finally received the Stable version of its Build 42 update.
A new Rust-like game is on the horizon, but it pairs the hit co-op titles mechanics with a Palworld visual style and Project Zomboid’s enemies.
