The original run of two Hellboy movies was pretty unusual from the outset. The first movie had a middling box office performance, but became a huge hit on DVD, prompting Universal Pictures to fund a sequel. That did considerably better financially speaking, but its prominence was cut off by The Dark Knight releasing one week later, and it was decided that a third effort wasn't worth the risk.
That remained true until 2018, when Stranger Things' David Harbour stepped into the role in an adaptation that made huge losses, and probably put movies tied to the series to bed for a long time. Happily, though, Hellboy fans can still get their kicks elsewhere, including via an upcoming release that's perfect to enjoy with friends.
Over on the official website for Restoration Games, the publisher has opened up pre-orders for Unmatched: Hellboy, the latest expansion for the beloved game. If you're unfamiliar with the base game, it essentially sees 2-4 players use a combination of miniatures and cards to compete in a skirmish.
