The PlayStation played host to a number of innovative, exceptional, and utterly unique video games that continue to capture our collective imaginations to this very day. With its iconic aesthetic making a return in the indie scene, and its tanky gameplay surprisingly rising in popularity once again, it is clear that people's passion for the original PlayStation extends far beyond simple nostalgia. There truly were great games on the platform that are, in many respects, still worth playing today.

Fortunately, unlike a lot of the PS1 games that aged poorly, many of these phenomenal titles actually get ported or even remastered on modern hardware. We've seen a number of truly brilliant PlayStation 1 games be brought over to PS Plus and even as standalone releases on PS5, which is both great for preservation and fans alike.
