First released way back in 1995, Chrono Trigger launched on the SNES and marked the first installment in what would become a hit franchise. Developed by Square, the story follows a group of adventurers who must travel through time itself to put the end to global tragedies.
Since its launch, it has gone on to be considered one of the greatest video games of all time, and has received multiple re-releases, albeit under different titles. Back in 1999, Chrono Trigger received its first PlayStation port just weeks before the launch of its sequel, Chrono Cross. Then, the port for the sequel arrived in 2001. Since then, Chrono Trigger has been re-released on PC, Nintendo DS, mobile, and even the Nintendo Wii, showing that fans are still eager to get stuck into the stunning RPG over three decades on from its original launch.
Now, to celebrate its 31st anniversary, Chrono Trigger is back with an exciting release which was unveiled earlier this year courtesy of Square Enix. The only catch is, at least for now, this official merchandise will only be available in Japan.
