Super Mario is one of the biggest and most loved brands on the planet. The plumber transcends gaming, and is up there alongside pop culture staples like Mickey Mouse, Batman, and Bugs Bunny. Even characters like Yoshi, Toad, Luigi, and Princess Peach have all gotten their own spinoff games, with varying degrees of quality.
And yet, it's been nearly 10 years since the last proper 3D Super Mario game, Super Mario Odyssey. The 2017 platformer remains a genuine 10/10 masterpiece, but the Nintendo Switch 2 has yet to get its own Mario adventure.
