Okay, so we know Fallout 5 is in development, and that's very exciting. But given we still have no idea when The Elder Scrolls 6 is going to be released, we're likely not seeing the next mainline Fallout until 2030 at the absolute earliest. As luck would have it, we have a different returning post-apocalyptic series to look forward to, and I must say I'm rather more excited for Metro 2039. The new gameplay trailer was released at Gamescom Opening Night Live, and it looks unreal.
Developed by the brilliant Ukraine-founded studio 4A Games, Metro 2039 is the first new game in the series was the VR title Metro Awakening in 2024. If we're talking non-VR, it's been seven years since the launch of the fantastic Metro Exodus. It's fair to say, then, that this a long-overdue return for a truly fantastic series, and the latest gameplay trailer looks incredible.
