Released to mark the start of Pokémon's ninth generation, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet launched back in 2022 for the Nintendo Switch. Since receiving plenty of post-game DLC, the game took us to the Paldea Region and, unlike previous entries in the long-running Nintendo franchise, featured an open-world map.
On top of the introduction of 120 brand-new Pokémon to the ever-growing roster, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet also welcomed new features, including time-displaced creatures known as Paradox Pokémon, as well as the Terastal phenomenon, allowing select Pokémon to receive 'Tera Types', unlocking new abilities and powerful damage boosts.
It is this Terastal phenomenon that has continued to act as a selling point for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, especially as Game Freak has released regular post-game content centered around Tera Raids.
In the cooperative battle mode, players can team up in groups of four to take down a powerful Pokémon within a strict time limit.
