X-Files Fans, Don't Miss This Sequel Coming In 2028

Fans of The X-Files will want to mark their calendars for 2028, as a new game sequel has just been announced. No, Mulder and Scully aren't making a triumphant return via video games. But with the franchise set for a reboot in both video and comic form, this is a great time for a supernatural investigation video game to announce its sequel.

The X-Files, if you're somehow not aware, follows two FBI agents who investigate strange cases with potentially supernatural and out-of-this-world causes. The recently announced game sequel has a similar premise, and promises some excellent writing full of silliness, drama, mystery, and an inevitable touch of the paranormal.

The game was announced on the Grumpy Gamer blog: From the makers of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion, comes Thimbleweed Park 2, scheduled for an early 2028 release.

The first Thimbleweed Park was created by Terrible Toybox, led by Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick following a successful Kickstarter campaign. The game played out like a classic point-and-click adventure that allowed players to switch between five characters: two FBI agents, a young woman, a clown, and a ghost.
