Crimson Desert's road to success has had its fair share of ups and downs; its initial, mostly complete, state required a substantial amount of tweaking and fixing to both appease those who purchased it early and fulfill the game's ultimate potential. Since the release of the enormous 2.0 update during Gamescom 2026, it has finally felt like Crimson Desert has reached its end point, with its developer, Pearl Abyss, even confirming that it was moving away from the steady stream of updates to focus almost exclusively on the upcoming DLC.
This makes now the best time to see what all the hype is about. Crimson Desert's massive story update removed the most prominent issue with the game and made it far more palatable to those interested enough to give it a whirl but not interested enough to pre-order it and wade through the formerly confusing opening.
