Mario Kart 8 Deluxe just launched Update 4.0, which includes a game-changing feature for Nintendo Switch 2. This latest update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe officially acts as a free upgrade for the Nintendo Switch 2, bringing enhanced graphics for the more powerful console. Although the Switch 2 debuted with Mario Kart World as a launch title, this update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe may have players diving back into its predecessor.

Nintendo has just released its Q1 FY2027 financial report, and there's a new list of best-selling Nintendo Switch 1 and Switch 2 games.

Along with the enhanced visuals on the Switch 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 4.0 adds the ability to play local split-screen co-op with up to eight players on one system. This feature requires the Nintendo Switch 2 and enough Joy-Con controllers, but technically makes it the largest number of Mario Kart players supported on a single console, surpassing Mario Kart World by double the players.
