Dead Space Gets Unexpected Shooter Crossover, and Players Feel Betrayed

For years, seemingly realistic and grounded military shooters have exponentially deviated from their design principals by crossing over with completely different franchises and celebrities, like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 implementing rapper Nicki Minaj and Beavis and Butt-Head as operators in its multiplayer.

Due to the sheer immersion-breaking nature of these crossovers, many military shooter players expressed frustration and annoyance with such skins and events, leading to EA and Battlefield Studios pledging to keep Battlefield 6's multiplayer grounded in modern military realism akin to multiplayer depictions seen in older Battlefield titles.

However, a recent leak of Battlefield 6 suggests that EA and BS may soon go back on their word, as data miners have discovered unreleased skins based on the sci-fi survival horror franchise Dead Space, which notably takes place roughly 500 years in the future.
