Beloved Guerrilla Games Franchise May Be Making a Comeback

A new report claims that Guerrilla Games has a brand-new Killzone project in the pipeline. While Guerrilla Games will reportedly be working on this Killzone project, a studio outside of Sony's ownership will allegedly be taking the lead.

Published on September 6, MP1st has reported that a new Killzone game is in development. While the outlet has reportedly heard rumors that this new Killzone project could be a reboot of the sci-fi shooter franchise, the most consistent rumor it's heard is that the project is some kind of remaster of remake. More specifically, MP1st believes it'll be a "visual uplift of an older title," and though the outlet hasn't confirmed which entry will receive this uplift, it believes the series' first 2004 entry would make the most sense.

Another interesting detail is that MP1st claims Guerrilla Games is partnering with a studio not owned by Sony to develop this rumored Killzone remake. The outlet draws attention to the March 2025 agreement between PlayStation and People Can Fly (Bulletstorm, Outriders), in which it was announced the latter studio would be developing a new game based on a pre-existing Sony IP.
