GTA 6 Officially Reveals New Vice City Map Details

The map of GTA 6 is shaping up to be one of Rockstar’s most ambitious open worlds yet, with Vice City serving as the centerpiece of a much larger version of Leonida. Once players progress far enough through the opening missions to unlock free roam, they will reportedly be able to travel across the map without traditional barriers restricting where they can go. Leonida is an island without a panhandle, but its geography is considerably more varied than what players experienced in GTA 5.

In terms of overall scale, it was previously reported that GTA 6's map is reportedly around twice the size of GTA 5's, while offering roughly three times the playable area found in Red Dead Redemption 2. Vice City itself is said to be about twice the size of Los Santos, and the developed areas surrounding the city are reportedly 11 times larger than the built-up regions outside Los Santos. The world is also divided into five counties and includes approximately 10 cities and towns, giving GTA 6 players considerably more places to explore outside the familiar Vice City setting.
