Dungeons & Dragons Officially Drops Brand-New Playable Species For Free

From Screen Rant on | OpenCritic

Dungeons and Dragons has released a brand-new playable species as a surprise for its players, and the best part is that it’s free. There’s no shortage of species to play with in D&D. Even as the 5.5e version continues to expand and update older species, you can still go back to 5e expansions and pick up species like the Aarakocra or Tortle, for instance. There’s also the possibility of homebrewing a unique species with the permission of your DM, should the desire arise, but the fact is that Wizards of the Coast is continuously giving more options to its players.

Now, a brand-new character option has been made available for free. The monthly drops on D&D Beyond in September feature a plethora of new freebies to grab and use in your adventures, from spells to maps and monsters. However, for the first time in the initiative’s existence, it’s offering a free species for players to use when building their characters in Dungeons and Dragons. This is huge for the program, but also huge for long-time fans, who are now able to play with a decades-old species in the 5.5e rules.
