More than 40 years after its release, the Sega Master System has received a brand-new game called Razing Core, a sci-fi shoot 'em up that fans of retro titles won't want to miss. The Sega Master System came out at the pinnacle of vertical shooter arcade games and was home to some of the best in the genre, including Astro Warrior and Power Strike.
This new game, Razing Core, seems to have been inspired by some of the respected arcade games from the 80s and 90s. For instance, Razing Core's gameplay and soundtrack might remind retro-enthusiast gamers of 1990's Raiden or 1995's DonPachi. Interestingly, Razing Core was developed using a custom engine, and it is essentially a homebrew Sega Master System game by solo dev Bad Computer.
A brand-new official release for the SNES and Sega Genesis is set to launch in 2027, and collectors might want to keep an eye on it.
