Destiny 2 players will soon be able to play Strikes from the content vault thanks to Project Sunrise. On May 21, Bungie announced that Destiny 2 would get one final update on June 9, and then the company would stop working on it entirely, meaning no more support and the end of the live-service approach. This suddenly left longtime fans without a third space, or at least without one that would get new content and support via updates or hotfixes to address issues.
The reactions have been varied, but the most consistent response has been that fans want Destiny 3, or at least some kind of continuation of the series. An example is how the recent Sony State of Play was dominated by Destiny 3 and 'No Disc No Buy' as a form of protest against Sony's decision to kill Destiny 2 and later also physical discs. Unfortunately, there is no indication that the protests are achieving anything, but even then, it might be somewhere in the ballpark of seven to 10 years before Destiny comes back. Luckily, Project Sunrise is here to help with that.
