Yesterday, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy seemed soundly (or unsoundly, depending on which Marvel video game fans you ask) laid to rest. Nobody would’ve expected to hear from it again, and the fact that it apparently underwhelmed financially suggests that there won’t be a sequel in the works, much less any new Guardians of the Galaxy game, any time soon.

New Marvel and DC games, in particular, are all basically shakily attempting to balance on a tightrope, and no game is safe from being canceled. That’s why, against all odds, it’s quite alarming to suddenly see that the Nintendo Switch 2 Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy leak from several months ago was legitimate, as there will indeed be a new port and update.

As per Twitter/X, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is miraculously being revived this holiday season with not only a spontaneous Nintendo Switch 2 port, but also a special version dubbed the “Encore Edition” that features exclusive 1980s glam-rock-inspired skins. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition will target 30 fps 1440p/40 fps 1080p for Quality/Performance modes in TV mode, respectively, and 30 fps while handheld. Moreover, the game will also have a physical Game-Key Card release....
