Since the first book in the science fantasy LitRPG franchise was published back in 2020, the Dungeon Crawler Carl saga has become something of a worldwide phenomenon. Written by Matt Dinniman and starting off its life as a self-published story, the franchise now consists of eight books and, most impressively, they have garnered over fourteen million copies sold in just a six-year period.

Now with a television adaptation being given the green light courtesy of Peacock, as well as the news that the franchise will receive graphic novels, card games, TTRPGs, and audiobooks, it is safe to say that Dungeon Crawler Carl is leading the charge when it comes to the LitRPG genre.

If the saga has slipped under the radar for you, it follows Carl and his ex-girlfriend's cat, Princess Donut, as two of the final survivors of the mining, transporting, processing, and consumption of Earth's resources by an alien corporation. As such, the duo is forced to compete in a dungeon crawl as part of an intergalactic reality show program.
