2 Months Before GTA 6, PS5 Emulator Gets GTA 5 Running At 60fps

PS5 emulators have made some impressive strides over the last few months. We’ve gone from Demon’s Souls launching to a black screen to the game rendering and being playable, albeit at roughly 2fps. Development is progressing much faster than anyone expected, and now, in a huge development for KyTyPS5, the emulator is capable of running Grand Theft Auto 5 at 40–60 fps. There’s just a slight hitch.

As seen in the X post embedded below, the prologue runs at a steady framerate with a few visual hiccups, but the game completely crashes as the player exits through the garage door. So, it’s not perfect, but considering that 3D games were struggling with the main menu just a few months ago, it highlights the breakneck progress being made.

The obvious question here is whether it will run GTA 6, and it’s impossible to say until the game is in the hands of emulators. Of course, it won’t be playable on PC from day one, but with these strides, the possibility of it running on an emulator before the official PC port releases is far more plausible.
