Steam's Free Weekend promotion is turning several paid games free for a limited time, with this weekend's selection available from now through September 14 at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET. As usual, the Steam promotion is a temporary way to play the full versions of participating games, making it a good opportunity to see whether something is worth picking up before the weekend comes to an end.
Steam's Free Weekend promotion is also a little different from the store's Free-to-Keep giveaways, which can occasionally make the terminology confusing. Steam's Free-to-Keep games only need to be claimed during their promotional window to remain permanently available in a player's library. Steam Free Weekend games work differently: the games can be played without purchasing them during the promotional period, but access ends once that window closes. In other words, there is no need to worry about claiming a game forever, but there is a deadline for actually playing it.
