While the franchise has always been situated within the real-time strategy genre, it's officially switching genres with its next installment.
At BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard revealed an open-world StarCraft shooter. The game was teased with a cutscene rather than gameplay footage, focusing on an army of soldiers training under the Dominion. It's clearly a major shift for the franchise, along with a potential treat for fans who have spent years imagining a new game. The game will arrive in 2030.
