Hearthstone is finally getting a new playable class in the form of Monk. Announced during BlizzCon 2026, Monk will mark Hearthstone's 12th class to date.
Blizzard's hit collectible card game launched with nine classes in 2014, then added Demon Hunter six years later. Hearthstone's most recent class addition was Death Knight, launched in late 2022. Both have meaningfully expanded the game's meta, with Monk being expected to follow suit.
These Hearthstone cards have powers that are nothing short of game-breaking.
Blizzard plans to release Monk in March 2027, though it has yet to announce an exact launch date. The developer is also keeping most gameplay details under wraps, saying only that the class will bring its signature "fluid playstyle and adaptable nature" to the CCG. The reveal cinematic that premiered during BlizzCon 2026 stars legendary Pandaren "brewmaster" Chen Stormstout, who will presumably be the default hero of the new Hearthstone class. Monk's Hero Power, cards, and any unique mechanics have yet to be revealed.
The newly announced arrival may not surprise the most attentive CCG fans, as Blizzard has been dropping hints of Hearthstone's Monk class for years, both intentionally and less so. As far back as January...
