Blizzard officially announced Diablo 5 during the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2026 on September 12. The approach thus essentially revives the Diablo 2 inventory system in all its space-management glory while leaving behind the one-slot-per-item mechanic used by the second and third mainline entries.
