BlizzCon 2026 is well underway, with massive news drops for upcoming releases for Diablo and StarCraft. Blizzard hasn't forgotten about the hero shooter mainstay that has helped keep the lights on. Overwatch has had some hiccups over its lifetime, but the game is currently at one of its strongest points ever, and Blizzard is looking to maintain that tempo.

Announced at BlizzCon, Overwatch's Season 5 is about to begin, with a myriad of new toys, reworked classics, and a thank-you gift for all. Players at home can participate in the newest Hero Trial, while the lucky folks at BlizzCon get to play with Sombra's Support-flavored rework and the new Watchpoint map coming soon.

New Friends and Restyled Foes

Starting from the top, the biggest Overwatch announcement at BlizzCon by far is the inclusion of the 55th hero to join Overwatch's roster: Doctrine.

Doctrine is an aggressive manipulator support, capable of piercing allies and enemies, summoning bat drones for combat stims, and capping the enemy's max HP with his terrifying ultimate.
