Blizzard has officially confirmed that it isn't planning any new Diablo 4 expansions in the future, leaving Lord of Hatred as the last one. The news brings about the end of a three-year era for Diablo 4, beginning with the game's release in June 2023.
Since Diablo 4's release over three years ago, Blizzard has released two expansions. The first, Vessel of Hatred, was released in 2024, before Lord of Hatred launched earlier this year to critical acclaim. While Lord of Hatred did mark the end of the Age of Hatred story arc, most assumed that Blizzard would begin a new storyline with future expansions, which now seem like they won't come to fruition.
Blizzard offers an early look at the overall design direction of Diablo 5 following its official reveal at the 2026 edition of BlizzCon.
