Star Wars: Galactic Racer, a racing game set in a galaxy far, far away from new studio Fuse Games, launches next week. The reviews are in for a game Star Wars fans have been eagerly anticpating ever since its surprise reveal at last year's Game Awards. Good news if you're one of those fans as the reviews are in, and they are better than anyone could have expected.
Right now Galactic Racer has an 88 on Metacritic and OpenCritic. Not only does that make it one of the highest-rated games of 2026 in a year that is packed with stiff competition, particularly these last six weeks or so, but it means it is the highest-rated Star Wars game to be released in more than two decades.
The last time a Star Wars game achieved a higher score than 88 on Metacritic was when Knights of the Old Republic launched in 2003. Still the record holder for the best-reviewed Star Wars game ever, KOTOR achieved an incredible 94.
