After a year filled with ways to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the franchise, including Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 ports of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, players are now getting a free Celebi on October 7, 2026. Rumors state that Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald are coming to Switch and Switch 2 soon, especially after a viral clip of Gen 3 games being played on a modern console or emulator was shared by the official Pokemon account in Japan. This doesn't necessarily come as a surprise, given that the original Gen 3 games are needed to finish the Pokedex in Pokemon FRLG.
One of the most requested features for the new ports is Pokemon Home support for Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, and now, fans are about to finally get it. While how the whole thing will work remains a bit unclear, it would only make sense for Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald to actually show up as ports. Without them, the National Pokedex is doomed to remain incomplete, and it would leave many players disappointed during the franchise's 30th anniversary.
Nintendo Switch users will be able to move Pokemon caught in FireRed and LeafGreen versions over to Pokemon...
