His tortured backstory and incredible character arc made him one of the most popular Baldur's Gate 3 companions, rewarding players who took the time to trust him and explore his narrative thanks to an award-winning performance by Neil Newbon. Since then, his popularity with fans has only continued to grow.

In a post on X, Dark Horse Comics confirmed that a "bloody new comic series" is on the way, featuring Baldur's Gate 3's Astarion. The only artwork is very on-brand for Astarion, showing the vampire companion licking blood from a dagger. The featured art is by illustrator Gerald Parel, and Dark Horse Comics says fans can expect a full announcement with even more details at New York Comic Con on October 9.
