Capcom has officially revealed plans to improve upon its RE Engine and convert it into an engine for AI game generation, utilizing the engine to speed up some more tedious parts of game development. Capcom has previously confirmed that it uses AI to assist with the development of its games.
While Capcom's signature RE Engine gets its name from the Resident Evil franchise, the game engine has gone far beyond the survival horror series. Capcom has used the RE Engine for many of its biggest properties, including development on games like Street Fighter 6, Devil May Cry 5, and even Monster Hunter Rise on the Nintendo Switch. Capcom has used the RE Engine multiple times for the Mega Man franchise as well, particularly for the Star Force Legacy Collection and the upcoming Mega Man: Dual Override. Now, Capcom has revealed the next step for the RE Engine, one that may prove particularly controversial.
