Have you played Doom on a pregnancy test? What about gaming on YouTube? Doom has found some competition in the race for esoteric platforms, this time from another classic.
It’s been a fun race to see what new ways old media can be played on, or mixing and matching something like an old Shrek television with Kingdom Hearts 3, or finding out about a blackout through some old talking toy radio (courtesy of the Spanish-Portuguese blackout last year).
Usually we see variations of Doom being played with the aid of a potato, dash cams, old computers, calculators, microwaves, but now the Mario brothers can have some love as well. Doom also has a dedicated subreddit called r/itrunsdoom about whether something can run the iconic shooter or not.

As physical media struggles to survive, it’s an interesting choice to make older games more widely available through different and easier means such as YouTube. The rise of playing older games and a return to more vintage media hikes up scalper prices through scarcity, but it gives new players plenty of ways to enjoy older games and introduce them to the gems.
