Super Mario Sunshine is one of the more divisive entries in the franchise, and though there are some moments of genuine greatness within it, it feels like more of a missed opportunity than we're used to with Nintendo. Isle Delfino is arguably one of the best settings in any Super Mario game, and evolutionary steps like the water pump pushed the skill ceiling upwards.

At the same time, it was nowhere near as polished as fans have come to expect, and the path to completion is a lot more restrictive than other 3D efforts from that era. With all of that in mind, if you never played it growing up, it's well worth going back and experiencing, and a new release might have just provided the best way to do that in 2026.

As first reported by DSO Gaming, an unofficial PC port of the Nintendo GameCube's Super Mario Sunshine has just been released. As a native port, it will allow players to enjoy the game on the platform without the use of an emulator for the first time, while at the same time giving plenty of additional features that aren't possible with traditional emulation.
