Physical Copies Make Up The Majority of Marvel's Wolverine Sales in Europe

The physical versions of Marvel's Wolverine were revealed to have oversold the game's digital copies in Europe, with a 51% split. The news comes a few months after Sony's controversial choice to stop the production of physical games in early 2028.

The report, made by The Game Business and based on data provided by Ampere, also revealed that 35% of all worldwide copies sold for Wolverine during its release month were physical. Its 2.16 million sales then placed it as the second-highest-selling September 2026 PlayStation 5 title, only trailing behind EA Sports FC 27's 4.96 million. NBA 2K27, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and The Blood of Dawnwalker then closed the top five, with the latter two also attributing 30% and 36% of their PS5 totals to the physical market.

The members also saw the game top many other high-profile 2026 releases, such as Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, in less than a month, with Arc System Works' fighting game still battling it to find its place within the niche.
