After the success of the Backrooms movie, fans of the analog horror franchise will have more to look forward to in 2027. Backrooms: Impending Doom will release in January, following a failed research expedition team after all but one of its members goes missing. Promising psychological horror and a first-person perspective, this return to the Backrooms looks pretty enticing so far.
Developed and published by FD Team, Backrooms: Impending Doom is set to release on January 20, 2027. Right now, you can experience the Prologue for free on Steam. "Level 0 is where the trail begins. The expedition went further. So will you," teases the official description. A trailer and screenshots can also be found on its official Steam page.
Of course, this isn't the only Backrooms-themed video game releasing next year. Shadow of the Backrooms has a 2027 window, with no specific release date given yet. Another game, The Edge of the Backrooms, is also set to launch sometime in 2027. All three games are from different studios, but each explores concepts and locations introduced in Kane Parsons' cerebral Backrooms series.
