Rockstar Games has been subject to plenty of leaks in recent years, with one of the biggest happening in April 2026. The group ShinyHunters shared a wide array of Rockstar's confidential financial information online, divulging details about just how much the company makes from Grand Theft Auto Online and other sources of income.
ShinyHunters has been operating in a particularly brazen way as of late, divulging the Rockstar Games information after publicly setting a ransom that Rockstar chose not to pay. More recently, the group targeted the FBI itself, establishing that it had obtained personal FBI data and initially threatening to share it unless the FBI walked back a public advisory about the hacking group's activities. Later, ShinyHunters backed off, announcing that it would not share the data regardless.
Now, the FBI has arrested a suspect connected to ShinyHunters, as reported by The New York Times. The suspect is a Canadian citizen "considered to be a primary co-conspirator in carrying out the intrusion." While there's no confirmation that the individual in question was also involved in the Rockstar Games hack, taking a key role in ShinyHunters activities makes it seem likely that he could have been involved in that crime...
