Blizzard has officially unveiled the new design for World of Warcraft's iconic Sylvanas Windrunner ahead of her return in November 2026. Sylvanas Windrunner is one of the most iconic and equally complex characters created by Blizzard, but her legacy has been tainted by the Shadowlands expansion and its reception among players. While a central character in the saga of World of Warcraft over the years, Sylvanas mostly disappeared after Shadowlands, but she came back with the Midnight expansion for a short yet crucial role.
In Midnight, Sylvanas returned in WoW's March on Quel'Danas raid for Season 1 at the very end of it. Her return was not seen by all fans as lore- or story-appropriate, as she comes back to defend Silvermoon "one last time" through a portal from The Maw. She protects her younger sister Vereesa and nephew Arator, with whom she shares an emotional hug and goodbye before returning to The Maw after the deed. It's unclear what her story will look like in the future, but for now, players can rest assured that she will return on November 4 when World of Warcraft: Forever is released.
