As the creators of the fan-favorite Mass Effect series, this closure has been a major blow to more than a few of the series’ fans, especially with the companion announcement that the in-development fifth Mass Effect game has been canned as a side effect.
Naturally, these moves have not put EA in anyone’s good graces, but even in spite of that, it seems EA is taking efforts to completely scrub the existence of Mass Effect from its corporate branding, including potential promotional presences in its other published games.
Earlier this month, datamining efforts conducted by players of EA’s multiplayer FPS, Battlefield 6, revealed that there were going to be several new Mass Effect-themed items added to the game, likely as part of festivities for a yearly Mass Effect fan day. However, following BioWare’s closure, subsequent datamining reported by X, formerly Twitter account @MassEffect_News revealed that these items have been completely removed from the game’s files.
