After years of development and several impressive gameplay showcases, Chronicles: Medieval may never make it to early access. Its developer, Raw Power Games, has lost the funding it needs to keep working on the medieval sandbox, and the studio itself is now at risk of closing.
In an announcement posted on October 30, the Copenhagen-based team said the money was no longer in place due to circumstances beyond its control. Raw Power Games didn't identify the funding source or explain what happened. What makes this particularly disappointing is that the game was apparently close to release.
Chronicles: Medieval Is in Serious Trouble
Without new funding, the studio can't keep developing Chronicles: Medieval. It has also warned that it could be forced to shut down, although neither the closure nor the game’s cancellation has been confirmed yet.
Raw Power Games says it's speaking with people who might be able to help, but the indie studio has been careful not to promise that those talks will lead anywhere. The team also said it would share any further developments with the community, regardless of the outcome.
