Helldivers 2 is in a tricky spot at the moment. After an astonishing launch, sentiment has started to turn on the game once again. A nerf to the flamethrower and anti-climactic anti-tank mines in the recent patch led to another review-bombing for the game, causing it to fall to "Mixed" reviews on Steam.

The flamethrower's nerf was the biggest sticking point in the Escalation of Freedom update, causing Arrowhead to take player feedback to the table, with "internal discussions" held on the matter. But, while discussions may be taking place, Arrowhead's CEO has shared his personal thoughts on the flamethrower with fans.
When asked in the official Helldivers 2 Discord channel about his thoughts on the flamer visuals, and whether he thought they were better or worse, recently appointed Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjarni said that he "liked the older one."
Jorjani was quick to point out that this was, in fact, his own personal opinion and doesn't represent that of the company at large, but it's interesting to see that he is firmly with the community on the matter.
