With the imminent release of Sonic X Shadow Generations on October 24, 2024, many fans have questioned what will happen to the original Sonic Generations Collection on Steam.
Luckily, in an FAQ post regarding delisting, Sega stated they will still be delisting the original on September 9th but will still be “offering a way to play the game in its original form.”
Instead of erasing the game off Steam like many other companies, it will now be part of a “Sonic the Hedgehog Legacy Bundle” that includes the following games for a retail price of $59.99:
Whether this bundle is worth the hefty price tag may be up for debate by fans. Regardless, it's great to see a company not just remove a game from Steam despite likely calls from a financial standpoint that doing so would hurt the sails of the newer version.
