When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was introduced in 2016, it had a solid player base of around 6,000 users. When the hype subsided after a year or so, only a few dozen faithfuls were left behind to keep the flame burning.

The number of players rose to almost 2,000 in the last 30 days, a record high since December 2016.

Since its announcement, streamers have been going bananas creating content around the now borderline retro COD outing. The enormous number of clips within the community enticed "old heads" to go back to their long-lost love.
