Discord, the hugely popular chat application, is taking Steam head-on with the launch of its new storefront. Users will be offered a curated list of games, heavy on indie titles, that is packed with games that the Discord staff loves. To kick things off, the store has opened for business with the following titles:
- Dead Cells
- Frostpunk
- Omensight
- Into the Breach
- SpellForce 3
- The Banner Saga 3
- Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire
- Hollow Knight
- Moonlighter
- This is the Police 2
- Starbound
Most importantly, however, Discord is offering something to players sick of multiple game distribution services (i.e. Steam, Origin, BattleNet, etc.): On request, Discord will scan a user's PC for installed titles and will bring them all into one location -- sort of a "virtual bookshelf" according to GameInformer. All games can then be launched directly from Discord regardless of its original distribution platform.
Now that's just sweet.
