Dying Light developer Techland has unveiled Dying Light: The Beast during this year's Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase, revealing the return of Dying Light's original protagonist Kyle Crane. Crane will be voiced once more by Roger Craig Smith.

The Beast began as an expansion but grew so large that Techland decided to spin it into a standalone title. It takes place in an area called Castor Woods, and as you may have gathered, the eponymous Beast is... you. After years of being experimented upon, Crane has returned to unleash his beast-like fury on the hordes.

Dying Light has managed to establish itself as a pretty great zombie series over the years, setting itself apart from the crowd with a fun and engaging parkour mechanic and an absolutely terrifying day and night cycle. Dying Light 2 is considered by many as one of the best games to release in 2022, even managing to snag the top spot on one of our editor's Game of the Year lists, but despite only being a couple of years old, Techland is back with another game.
