Bethesda Is Taking Playable Ghouls "Into Consideration" For Fallout 5

Fallout 76's creative director, Jon Rush, has suggested that playable Ghouls will be taken "into consideration" for Fallout 5 if fans respond to them well enough in 76.

The Fallout games have long been obsessed with "uranium fever", but it feels like something even more contagious has hit the series recently - Ghoul fever. Ghouls have always been a key part of Fallout, but it feels like they're more present than ever before thanks to Amazon's adaptation giving us the glory of Walter Goggins as a Ghoul.

It's not just the Amazon series that's been struck with Ghoul fever, though, as Fallout 76 recently revealed that a 2025 update is introducing playable Ghouls for the first time in series history. It's a little surprising that we've never seen it in the series before now, but Fallout 76 might just be the beginning for the mechanic.
