Dragon Age: The Veilguard Won't Let You Romance NPCs

Dragon Age has given us plenty of romantic relationships over the years, and Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be no exception. Described by BioWare as the "most romantic" Dragon Age game yet, there's already a wide range of characters for players to choose from, thanks to The Veilguard making all of its companions canonically pansexual.

However, if you were hoping to have a romantic entanglement outside the party, you're out of luck this time around. In a recent Q&A session on the game's Discord channel, Dragon Age: The Veilguard creative director John Epler explained that all the romances for our Rooks are strictly with companions, and that there are no opportunities to romance NPCs like there were in previous games.

"This time, the romances for Rook are strictly within the companions," says Epler. "We wanted to really focus on those relationships and make sure that they were as developed and as deep as we could make them."
